Gordon Price to Translink: No transit? No bridges.

In June, Gordon Price spoke in New Westminster about plans for a 6-lane replacement of the Pattullo Bridge. (You can read about Translink’s plans here).

After saying, “If you can’t spend it on transit, don’t spend it on a bridge,” the room joined him in a chorus of: “No transit? No bridge.”

He raises an excellent point: Why is Translink, Vancouver’s regional transit authority, spending millions on plans for the bridge when it claims it is unable to deliver long-promised transit projects? Price, a former Translink board member, also challenges the transit authority to reconcile its bridge-building plans with its other priorities and declining vehicle use.
